Value-based healthcare (VBHC) strives to deliver care that improves both patient outcomes and experiences, and the effectiveness and efficiency of care provided and received. Value-based health care is being considered as a new direction in delivering high-quality healthcare across Australia, with several jurisdictions developing their capacity in establishing a strong foothold in this area. The VBHC model is inherently collaborative demanding working with health care networks, integrated care for patients, continuous monitoring and evaluation; each targeted to optimise patient outcomes and experiences. In this session, we initiate the discussion around the concept of Value-based health care, the challenges and the processes to implement VBHC.
