This year will be a significant year for The Australian National University (ANU) with the retirement of our Chancellor, Professor the Honourable Gareth Evans AC QC on 31 December.
ANU was founded in the national capital as a national university, to bring credit to Australia, to advance research and learning, to find solutions to the greatest challenges facing our country and region, and to take its place among the great universities of the world.
It falls to the University Council to manage the process for the appointment of a new Chancellor, led by the Pro-Chancellor Naomi Flutter, Vice-Chancellor Professor Brian Schmidt and Council Member Anne-Marie Schwirtlich.
We are interested to hear directly from members of our ANU community, about your perspective on the important role of Chancellor and those matters which you think we should consider as we fulfil our important responsibility.
Led by Naomi Flutter, two town hall meetings will be held on campus for staff, students and alumni to provide feedback on the Chancellorship position.
Second town hall meeting will be held on Thursday 23 May, 11.30am-12.30pm - Athenaeum, School of Music, 100 Childers Street.
