What is the ANU Shanghai Study Hub?
The ANU Shanghai Study Hub in an in-person support centre for students who are currently located in China and enrolled to study with ANU in Semester 2 2020. Situated in Australia House, Shanghai, the Study Hub will operate from 14 August to 20 November 2020. Students will enjoy free access to study spaces, bookable meeting rooms, lounge facilities and a regular program of events and activities to support learning and professional development. All official ANU Shanghai Study Hub events will be free of charge to ANU students and alumni. Students located outside Shanghai will be able to apply for travel grants to attend selected Study Hub activities and stay overnight in Shanghai.
The ANU Shanghai Study Hub will provide valuable offline, face-to-face opportunities for our students in China to connect with each other, build social networks, study together and develop a valuable set of professional skills, diverse industry knowledge and networks through a curated program of activities throughout the semester.
Where is the ANU Study Hub?
The ANU Shanghai Study Hub is located at Australia House by AustCham Shanghai. The Study Hub is in room 603 and students will also have complimentary access to facilities on level seven including: a lounge space, bookable private meeting rooms and bookable events spaces.
Australia House is located at 80 Pingwu Road, Changning District, Shanghai, 200052 (澳洲之家, 上海市长宁区平武路80号7楼). The closest metro stop is Jiaotong University (交通大学), less than 10 minutes walk away.
What services does the Study Hub provide?
The ANU Shanghai Study Hub is an open plan office space with desks, power points, wifi and printing services. It provides a space for students to study individually or work quietly in groups.
In addition, Australia House has two meeting rooms (subject to availability) that students can book to facilitate group study sessions. Indoor and outdoor events spaces are also available to book if students wish to organise their own larger gatherings or workshops, in consultation with Study Hub staff. Students will not be charged any fees for room bookings.
Study Hub staff and Student Ambassadors will be available in-person to support students with ANU administrative systems, study tips, and to facilitate connections with our Canberra campus.
The Study Hub will also host weekly in-person workshops, expert panel events or other related activities (eg site visits) for ANU students to support the development of their academic and professional skills. Each workshop will be followed by a social networking opportunity.
ANU Students will also have access to the AustCham Lounge, a casual networking space with refreshments on the seventh floor. As guests of AustCham Shanghai, students are expected to share this space and its facilities respectfully.
Will the Study Hub be open every day?
The study hub will be accessible to students during the following times:
14 August to 20 November 2020
OPEN: 10am - 6pm Monday to Friday.

Times are subject to change and the operation of the Study Hub is subject to any rules and regulations of local, city and provincial/national authorities relating to pandemic control. Opening Hours for the 1-7 October Chinese National Day/Mid-Autumn Day will be confirmed soon. Note: The Study Hub will not open on Chinese public holiday 'special working days' where those days fall on a Saturday or Sunday.

Do I have to pay to access the Study Hub or use its services?
The ANU Shanghai Study Hub is a free service available to any students who are currently located in China and enrolled to study with ANU in Semester 2 2020. Selected Study Hub events will also be open to ANU Alumni.
I live outside Shanghai, can I visit the Study Hub?
The Study Hub will offer a limited number of travel grants for students to subsidise their travel and a short stay in Shanghai. These grants will be available for specific events and activities later in the semester and more details will be available soon.
Do I need to register or enrol at attend the Study Hub?
Study space at the Study Hub is available through a booking system, subject to availability. Students may book online and are strongly encouraged to do so to ensure your place. Walk-in students without a booking are welcome, and will be allocated space if available. Students may be requested to provide a form of photo ID to confirm their ANU enrolment. An ANU student card is not required to access the Study Hub but students should bring theirs if they have one.
You will be asked to sign an agreement the first time you visit the Study Hub, relating to the responsible use of the Study Hub and AustCham shared spaces.
The study space booking system will be made available on 12 August and will be accessible to currently enrolled students here.

Do I need to bring my own laptop?
You will need to bring your own laptop and charging cables. The Study Hub will provide free fast Wifi for students. Printing services will be available and free of charge for small jobs.
Will the Study Hub be catered?
Students will have access to complimentary tea, coffee, and water while at the Study Hub. Food may not be consumed in the Study Hub itself but other spaces at Australia House are available. Some Study Hub events will be lightly catered.
I don't live in Shanghai or the surrounding provinces, can I still access the Study Hub?
ANU will provide a limited number of travel bursaries to cover train travel and one night of accommodation in Shanghai for students living outside of Shanghai and neighbouring regions to attend selected events. Further information about the bursaries and how to apply will be available soon.
