Our alumni and friends are passionate about the College - who better to suggest the inspiring, uplifting words that help tell the unique story of the ANU College of Law?
Whether quotes from popular culture or memorable anecdotes, alumni and friends of the ANU College of Law are being encouraged to suggest words to celebrate the College’s history and inspire future generations of law students.
The call follows the announcement of the ANU College of Law’s foyer refurbishment, a $2.4 million project which will see the College’s existing entrance foyer redeveloped to better meet the needs of students, staff and visitors.
As part of the project, alumni and friends of the College are being asked to provide their suggestions for inspirational words, with the winning submission to be immortalised through a feature wall in the new foyer.
Dean of the ANU College of Law, Professor Stephen Bottomley, said the feature wall would form an iconic part of the new foyer, and encouraged alumni and friends to consider the quotes and anecdotes that reflected the rich history – and bright future – of the College.
“Ideally, this is an exercise that not only celebrates those who have passed through the College, but inspires those who are yet to do so.
“Our alumni and friends are passionate about the College – who better to suggest the inspiring, uplifting words that help tell the unique story of the ANU College of Law?”
Professor Bottomley said several suggestions had already been received, ranging from the writings of history’s great philosophers to quotes from popular culture.
“Alongside quotes from Aristotle, Epicurus and Plato, we’ve also had suggestions of passages from books, music and film that relate to law or reflect life as a law student.
“We’re fortunate to have such a large number of passionate alumni and friends – we hope this is an opportunity that allows them to immortalise their feelings about the College.”
Alumni and friends of the ANU College of Law who want to submit ideas have until Friday 27 February to do so, with the winning submission to be announced in March.
Submissions should be no more than 50 words, and can be sent by email or through the ANU College of Law website.
