Universal Basic Income Seminar

Presented by ANU College of Business & Economics

Basic income is a bold idea to end poverty, improve economic security, and smooth the transition as technological advances and economic dynamics reshape the nature of work.

Basic income is an unconditional cash transfer guaranteed to all individuals-there are no work requirements, means tests, or restrictions on how the money can be spent. Everyone receives the income individually, in an amount sufficient to cover basic needs.

About our Speaker

Dr Eva Vivalt is a Wealth and Wellbeing Research Fellow and Senior Lecturer at the ANU Research School of Economics. She is also the founder of AidGrade, a research institute that generates and synthesises evidence in international development. Eva's main research interests are issues associated with evidence-based policy decisions. She is also a Principal Investigator on a basic income study for Y Combinator Research, a not-for-profit research organisation specialising in technology related studies. Eva is interested in development, behavioural economics, and effective altruism, and is presently developing a platform to coordinate the collection of forecasts of social science research results.

The seminar will be followed by a lunch and networking session.

2020 ANU Alumni Weekend

It's back! This weekend is about giving our alumni the chance to revisit campus, see the many changes, and share some fun experiences with friends and family.

Catch up with old friends at one of our many reunion events. This year, we celebrate the 60th anniversary of the ANU College of Law, our alumni are organising a Forestry reunion, and we enjoy our very first All Alumni Reunion Breakfast.

Relive those wonderful memories when you return to our residential halls or take one of our tours of parts of campus which you haven't seen before.

Make new connections at a fun and interactive activity including our Curious Kids - Family Day and taste wines from our local 'ANU' winemakers.
