The US election and the future of the Australia–US alliance

The 2020 US election has taken place in a time unlike any other - with a global pandemic still raging and amidst a shifting geopolitical balance of power.

The election attracted global attention and will have implications around the world for years to come. Our distinguished panel will discuss their reactions to the election and what it means for the future of the Australia-US relationship.

Professor Brian P. Schmidt AC, ANU Vice-Chancellor & President, will welcome The Hon Arthur Sinodinos AO, Australian Ambassador to the United States of America, and The Hon Julie Bishop, ANU Chancellor and former Foreign Minister of Australia, inviting them to provide their perspectives on the US election and the future of the alliance between Australia and the United States.

This event will be moderated by ANU alumnus, member of Australia's diplomatic team in Washington DC, and Director of the ANU North American Liaison Office Paul Harris (MIntAff '07, BA (Hons) '98).  We welcome your questions for our speakers, which can be submitted during the event or in advance when registering.

We hope you can join us for this timely and topical discussion, and please feel free to forward this invitation to other ANU alumni and friends who might be interested.
