ANU Sport invites you to its inaugural Sports Dinner and launch of sports scholarships at The Australian National University
How do world class athletes juggle busy work and academic demands with their pursuits for sporting excellence? What skill and experience do graduates rounded with sports values bring to the Australian and worldwide community? Why are students, embedded with a sporting vision of teamwork, commitment and leadership, so valued to prospective employers?
Master of Ceremonies, Tim Gavel, will guide our special guests and audience on a journey that challenges the real role of sporting excellence in our academic institutions to produce our nation's future leaders. This event is an historic occasion for ANU to launch a sports scholarship program, with the vision to foster sustainable pathways for talented sportspersons who are undertaking studies at the ANU - an institution with an excellent international reputation. The holistic development of students should permeate all aspects of the university experience.
Guest speaker, Australian Olympic Gold medallist and flag bearer at the 2016 Rio Olympics, Kim Brennan, will provide insights to the opportunity that sport has provided to her in life. Tim Gavel will compere a Q&A panel discussion and invite Kim to join other guest panellists:
Susan Powell OAM - Paralympian Gold medallist and ANU Masters and PhD graduate
Justin James - 2016 ANU Sport Star of the Year and current ANU Master's student
Prof Richard Baker - Pro Vice-Chancellor (University Experience) at ANU
