I am a Lecturer in Professional Military Education in the Strategic and Defence Studies Centre, CAP. I am a strong proponent of interdisciplinarity: while my PhD thesis (undertaken at the ANU) examined the reception and production of Aboriginal Australian literature, I currently research Professional Military Education and teach Australian Defence Force personnel. I also tutor a first-year course in Strategic and Defence Studies. My publication record far exceeds opportunity, with four journal articles published during my doctoral candidature. I represent Early Career Academics through the CAP Research Committee, and I was appointed as a University House Early Career Academic Fellow in 2019.

Further to these qualities, I bring significant expertise in engaging with external stakeholders, especially those in the public sector. My office is based in Defence premises, and I engage with Defence colleagues on a daily basis. In the same way that that I have been able to move between disciplines by emphasising my transferable academic skills, I have found success in building common ground and a shared vision of academic achievement with Defence colleagues.  As a member of ANU Council, I will continue to build this culture of collegiality both within, and beyond, the ANU.
