ANU Centre for UNESCO

The activities undertaken at the Centre include

  • providing advice to the Commission on UNESCO documents emanating from the secretariats in Paris, Bangkok, Apia and elsewhere
  • conducting research in UNESCO priority areas
  • preparing a Newsletter on behalf of the National Commission
  • assisting in the hosting of visitors to Australia in areas of UNESCO's interest
  • identifying possible experts to attend UNESCO conferences or undertake UNESCO consultancies
  • identifying research and conference activities for which UNESCO funding is available, and in which Australia has appropriate expertise
  • conducting seminars to explore issues, policies, and options relevant to UNESCO with participants from within and outside the ANU
  • making presentations to organisations such as community and professional groups about the role of UNESCO, its activities, achievements and future development
