New ANU Teaching Enhancement Grants

The Vice-Chancellor has agreed to make funds available to:

• Enhance the learning experience of students through supporting staff in developing more student centred approaches to their teaching
• Provide resources for innovative teaching and curriculum development within the ANU; and
• Enable staff to better position themselves to apply for grants such as those offered by the Australian Learning and Teaching Council

The Vice- Chancellor is offering grants of up to $10,000 to individuals and groups within the University to enable them to enhance their teaching practice. The closing date for 2008 will be 31 October. More details are available here. (Added 19 August 2008).

National Teaching Awards

The Australian Awards for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning have recently been announced. ANU staff won five awards. Details of the winners are on this site.

Student Ratings Interpretation Guidelines

Summaries of the University's students' ratings of courses and teaching have recently been updated to include the 2007 data. The latest figures now include data from 2005 - 2007. These summaries are useful for interpreting the results of individual surveys. They are broken down by College, level and class size.

Learning Management System

Our current LMS is WebCT CE 4.1 which will continue to be available and supported throughout 2008. Newer platforms on the market now provide much richer and more flexible ways to deliver education, and integrate better with the University's many back-end systems.

So it is time to review our LMS.
