The new Admissions, Scholarships & Accommodation model will result in an earlier-than-standard admissions process, meaning school leavers will apply to ANU in March when they are in Year 12, and ANU will make them offers in August.
This means that school leavers will know if they have a place at ANU much earlier and will be able to plan accordingly. Successful applicants will receive conditional offers in August and therefore, they will still need to meet the entry requirements for the program they want to get into.
New admissions model effective from next year
The new admissions changes are relevant only to school leavers who will commence their studies at ANU from 2020 onwards. The first cohort of students who will be admitted through the new model are those currently in Year 11 in 2018. Applications will open in March 2019 for applicants who will commence at ANU in Semester 1, 2020.
Changes apply only to domestic school leavers
The new model is currently only for domestic school leavers who are commencing Year 12 in 2019 or later, and will apply to commence their undergraduate studies at ANU in 2020 or later.
These changes apply only to students completing an Australian Year 12 or the International Baccalaureate (IB) program (November session) in Australia. This does not include: applicants completing a New Zealand Year 12, students who are doing an Australian Year 12 overseas, students who have already completed Year 12, mature-age students, students transferring from other universities, etc. Domestic applicants who are not able to apply through the new process must continue to apply to ANU through the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC).
