Students with either IT problems or maintenance problems need to log a request. To log a maintenance request or to log an IT request please select from below:
If residents are having issues with their computer ie gaining access to the central block Wi-Fi or securing internet access on the computer in their room, the B&G Academic Team provides assistance.
If the Academic Team representative is unable to solve the issue then the situation will be referred to university IT services.
Please inform the administration office of your concern so it can be directed to the IT support team.
If something in a room is broken or not working as it should, the resident should log a maintenance request. There is an on-line facility for this. The issue will be attended to within two business days. This might include dripping taps, blown light bulbs, or non-functioning heaters. Logging a request often prevents small problems from turning into big ones. We also encourage the reporting of any maintenance issue found throughout the residence, not just in personal rooms. If something isn't working in the kitchen, bathroom or laundry residents will often incorrectly assume that someone else will log a request for it to be attended.

Are there any vacancies?
Outside of the standard application times you will need to contact Accommodation Services to be considered for any vacancies that may arrive. You can contact them at email@example.com
Do I come under the First Year Guarantee?
You should refer to the Accommodation Guarantee information to see if you meet the criteria.
Are males and females in separate buildings?
No, each block and floor are co-ed and have fairly equal gender balance.
How many people live at B&G?
B&G is home to 517 ANU students.
Is there a curfew?
B&G does not have curfews. We treat our students as mature adults, however all residents expected to be respectful with their noise levels of an evening.
Can I have an overnight guest?
Please refer to the Residential Handbook on the Advice & procedures page. Fold out beds can be hired from the office for $10.00 per night.
Can I stay over summer?
Yes you can, however you will need to apply to do so. An email will be sent out to all residents in October offering them a contract variation for the summer period.
How long do I have to accept my offer?
You will have 48 hours from when you are sent the email offering you a place in the hall.
How do I apply?
To apply for accommodation at Burton and Garran Hall you must fill out an online form through the Accommodation Services Application Portal.
Can I check in early?
We do not usually offer early check ins however, if you have special a circumstance please contact firstname.lastname@example.org. We will do our best to accommodate you early if rooms are available.
What if I check in late? Do I have to pay?
You are required to pay for your room from your contracted start date. If you intend on arriving late you will need to inform the Admissions Officer at email@example.com.
Can I bring my car?
Students can may bring their cars but there is no guarantee of a parking spot. There are limited places at the Dickson parking station approximately 5 minutes' walk from the Hall. Residents are encouraged to apply for a permit before the start of the academic year. If a resident arrives on campus with a car and no permit, there is no assurance that they will have access to resident parking areas. Please note that permits sell quickly. All enquiries must be made through ANU Parking.
What if I decide to cancel before I come?
Students who cancel their contracts two weeks or more before the beginning of their contracted date will be charged a $300.00 cancellation fee, and will be refunded the remainder of their acceptance fees.
Students who cancel their contract with less than two weeks' notice prior to their contracted date will be charged a $300.00 cancellation fee, and will be charged for the room until it is filled. Any amount of the acceptance fees left over once all other charges have been taken out will be refunded.
Can I have a large room?
No. Students who receive a larger room are members of various leadership teams.
Can I have a room next to my friend?
First year residents are allocated a room at random and do not get to choose their room. Returning residents may be offered the opportunity to apply for their preferred room but there is no guarantee the request will be able to be accommodated.
