Accommodation guarantee

Great news for undergraduate students

ANU guarantees accommodation in one of our Halls, Colleges, Lodges or other approved accommodation (but not your preference) to all the following undergraduate students commencing in the first semester of their first year of study at ANU.

  • Indigenous students
  • Students with a disability*
  • Tuckwell Scholars
  • Incoming exchange students
  • 1st year, 1st semester, domestic undergraduate students
  • Transferring students from another Institution
  • 1st year, 1st semester, international undergraduate students
  • ANU Medical School students
  • ANU College Foundation Program (Standard program - February commencement only)

Eligibility criteria

  • Complete the online accommodation application between 20 August and 7:30am 6 January for first semester and full-year applications or between 1 April and 8 June for second semester applications
  • Apply to study in a full-time undergraduate degree at ANU
  • Be commencing the first semester in your first year of study at ANU
  • Be a resident from outside of the Canberra Region (postcodes excluding 0200, 0221, 2600-2612, 2614-2620, 2900-2914)
  • Then receive and accept your offer:
    • Domestic students: receive your academic offer from ANU through the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) by the Main Round
    • International students: accept your academic offer and pay your program fee deposit by 17 January for first semester and full-year applications or by 23 June for second semester in the year your studies will commence
  • Accept your accommodation offer within 48 hours of receiving it

Students from Canberra and surrounds

ANU is guaranteeing up to 50 accommodation spaces if you are from the local ACT region. To be eligible you must meet the following criteria.

  • Complete the online accommodation application between 20 August and 7:30am 6 January for first semester and full-year applications, or between 1 April and 8 June for second semester applications
  • Apply to study in a full-time undergraduate degree at ANU
  • Be commencing the first semester in your first year of study at ANU
  • Live in a suburb which has one of the following postcodes: 0200, 0221, 2600-2612, 2614-2620, 2900-2914
  • Then receive and accept your offer:
    • Domestic students: receive your academic offer from ANU through the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) by the Main Round
    • International students: accept your academic offer and pay your program fee deposit by 17 January for first semester and full-year applications or by 23 June for second semester in the year your studies will commence
  • Accept your accommodation offer within 48 hours of receiving it
  • If there are available rooms at the end of allocating all guaranteed students, those on the ACT waiting list would then be considered

Some students aren't covered by the guarantee

If you are a Postgraduate Coursework or Postgraduate Research student you are welcome to apply for accommodation as there are a number of suitable locations on campus, however availability cannot be guaranteed.

You are also welcome to apply for ANU-owned rental properties, which are located close to campus through ANU Apartments, they also provide staging accommodation while you seek longer-term housing.

If you are an existing student or a student with a late round UAC offer you are also welcome to apply for accommodation although a place is not guaranteed.
