ANU Cricket Club Scholarship

Overview

Each year the ANU Cricket Club may offer an award known as the ANU Cricket Club Scholarship.

The objectives of the award are to:

  • Increase access and opportunity for students to attend ANU
  • Attract talented cricketers to ANU
  • Provide the social benefits of being an ANU Cricket Club member, and through membership, enhance university experience and career outcomes.

Funding for this award has been provided by ANU Cricket Club Alumni and friends. Particular thanks and recognition to ANUCC Alumni David Carland for his leadership in establishing this award.

Eligibility

The award is available each year to a prospective ANU student who:

(a)  is a domestic student;

(b)  has been admitted to a single or combined undergraduate degree program at the ANU; and

(c)  is currently playing cricket in a formal Australian cricket competition.

Selection

Selection is made on the basis of application, cricketing ability and academic merit.   Preference may be given to applicants:

  • from a rural or regional background;
  • who demonstrate financial need;
  • of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander background.

Benefits

The scholarship offers a stipend of $5,000 per annum for up to 4 years.

How to apply

Applications should be made via University Admissions Centre (UAC) at the apply now link at the top of this page . The application shall also consist of:

  1. A supporting statement of no more than 750 words, which addresses:
  • how the scholarship would enable them to take advantage of their studies to reach their full potential
  • their motivation to be an ANUCC member and play for the club
  • contribution to society and/or volunteer experience (accompanying newspaper clippings or evidence of volunteering can be attached)
  • details of your cricket experience including club, representative matches, and relevant statistics
  • shall be submitted to the ANU Cricket Club, via the email address provided on the scholarship website page, prior to scholarship closing date
  1. Character Reference - provided by teacher from the School, cricket coach or by another appropriate representative. The reference should include notes on the applicants cricketing ability and commitment to studies, sport and/or community contributions

The Supporting Statement and Character Reference shall be submitted to the ANU Cricket Club via email to murray.radcliffe@assa.edu.au prior to scholarship closing date.  The email should also include the applicant's MyCricket Identification number.
