Garrurru Indigenous Undergraduate Accommodation Scholarship

Overview

The ANU College of Asia and the Pacific is delighted to invite Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders to apply for the Garrurru Indigenous Undergraduate Accommodation Scholarship.

Up to 3 scholarships will be available each year.  Each scholarship provides its recipients with on-campus accommodation and academic support in partnership with Ursula Hall - an ANU student residence that provides a safe, welcoming and supportive living environment for its diverse range of students.

The scholarship's aim is to remove some of the barriers that may prevent Indigenous Australians from undertaking their first degree at university and the pressures that may be experienced by students as they transition to university life.

Eligibility

An applicant must identify as being of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander descent and be enrolling or enrolled in a:

  • single undergraduate degree program offered by the College; or
  • flexible double or vertical double undergraduate degree program offered by the College in partnership with another college of the ANU

Indigenous school leavers and mature age students are encouraged to apply.

The scholarship covers the cost of on-campus accommodation at Ursula Hall. Recipients may stay in either Ursula Hall's:

The choice offered to recipients between Ursula Hall's Main Wing and Laurus Wing has been designed to accommodate the different circumstances and needs of both school leavers and mature age students.

How to apply

Applications for 2017 open Monday 3 October 2016 and close Friday 2 December 2016.

Applications are made via the online form available from the top of this page.

Successful applicants will be notified prior to the close of Main Round offers made by the University Admissions Centre (UAC). Successful applicants will be contacted using their email address nominated in the online application form provided. Applicants that receive a scholarship offer will need to return a signed Letter of Offer and a copy of the Conditions of Award.
