David Campbell Prize

Each year the School of History may offer a prize known as the David Campbell Prize. The objective of the prize is to encourage students who show potential the field of Australian History.

The prize will be on offer annually.

The prize was established by Professor Manning Clark and commemorates the late David Campbell (1915-1979). David Campbell was an Australian poet who wrote over 15 volumes of prose and poetry.  Campbell frequently wrote for the Bulletin and was editor of poetry anthologies including the 1966 edition of Australian Poetry and in 1970 Modern Australian Poetry.  A recipient of several Australian literary awards, he was also a senior fellow (1973-76) of the Literature Board of the Australia Council for the Arts.
