We've been running this competition with our good friends at Lions Club Woden for 22 years. Lions Club Woden member Manikkam Reddy started the competition to give students an opportunity to excel in the art of oratory by reading widely on subjects dealing with human values. His aim was to help tertiary students build their confidence in public speaking as they look towards their future careers. Manik, as he was known, has since passed away but his memory still lives on in the continued success of the competition.
Support your fellow undergraduate students as they compete in the 2016 Lions Oratory Competition. Have your say on who should win the $800 People's Choice Award and be in the running for a Lucky Door Prize on the night.
Each speaker has just five minutes to address the question 'What does community mean in 2016' and convince the judges they deserve to win the ANU Lions Oratory Trophy and prizes totalling more than $3,000 in cash.
