Karina Brontes-Forward is one of the ANU students behind Ambiente, a forum for publishing students’ research, informed comment and creative responses to issues involved in sustainable development. The publication came out of her experiences attending the Rio + 20 UN conference on Sustainable Development in Brazil.
Karina writes: Rio was so full of creative energy and excitement as well as gloom and doom, and that’s what inspired us originally, but it’s the amazing work we receive from students that continues to inspire the project. For me personally, it’s been a really rewarding experience and has made me think about writing differently, and how important interdisciplinarity and original thought are for the sustainability challenges that we face.
