The ANU Sport & Recreation Association (SRA) provides affordable
and valuable memberships which now include all group fitness classes. There are also casual rates for ANU students, SRA
members and the general community.
In order to be eligible for any of our service memberships, you
must first become a member of the ANU Sport & Recreation Association
(SRA). Alternatively, casual rates are available to students,
members and the general community.
Please Note: ANU Students are automatically considered SRA Members.

Full SRA Membership
What is it?
Full SRA Membership allows you to have access to our facilities and services at reduced rates. It also allows you to join any of our 30+ affiliated clubs. Full members have the right to vote at our AGM and may nominate for positions as club executives or on the ANU Sport & Recreation Council.
Am I eligible?
SRA Full Memberships are open to:
- Current ANU Students
- Graduates of any recognised tertiary institution
- Staff of the ANU – employed more than 50% of full time
What do I need?
- In order to purchase an SRA membership, you will need to provide proof of your eligibility.
- Students need to present their updated student card.
- Graduates need to produce a final academic transcript or a graduate certificate.
ANU Staff need to produce a pay slip or a letter from your department head.
Please note: ANU Staff may pay their SRA membership through staff salary deduction instead of paying upfront. For more information on Staff Salary Deduction, please see below. |

Associate Membership
What is it?
Associate SRA Membership gives you the same rights as Full members except that you do not have voting rights and cannot hold positions in ANUSRA Clubs or on the ANU Sport & Recreation Council.
Am I eligible?
SRA Associate Memberships are open to:
- A person who resides in an ANU College or Hall
- Domestic Partners of SRA members (As defined by the ACT Legislation Act 2001) – not children or parents
- A person who, in the opinion of the SRA Council, would make a significant contribution to the affairs of the Association and is not eligible for admission as an ordinary member
- A person, not eligible for admission as an ordinary member, who provides evidence to the Association of the equivalent of two years full time study at the ANU
- Non ANU student, who has a significant affiliation with an Association affiliated club and is sponsored by that club – limited numbers for each club
- Full time students of another University
What do I need?
- In order to purchase an SRA membership, you will need to provide proof of your eligibility.
Other Memberships
If you are not eligible for SRA membership by the aforementioned eligibility requirements, you may fit into one of our other membership categories.
Take a look at the requirements below to see if you are eligible for an alternative SRA Membership:
- Non ANU students, who is a coach of an ANU affiliated club and who is sponsored by that club. This person can become a member as an ‘Honorary Coach’. (Such members are neither Full or Associate and only have rights within that club) – Set limits per club.
- Non ANU student, who has a significant affiliation with an Association affiliated club and is sponsored by that club is eligible for admission as a ‘Valued Club Affiliate Member’ (VCAM). (Such members are neither Full or Associate and only have rights within that club) - Set limits per club.
- A person who has rendered distinguished services to the Association and has been appointed by a two - thirds majority of ordinary members, present and voting, at an annual general meeting, is eligible for admission as a ‘Honorary Life Member’ – (Full)
- These must be processed through the Administration Office (between the hours of 9:00am-5:00pm).
Staff Salary Deduction
- Instead of paying for your SRA membership up front, ANU Staff members have the option of having their SRA membership fee deducted from their salary on a fortnightly basis.
- The amount of this contribution is currently $4.24 per fortnight.
This fee may be altered in the future by resolution passed at a General Meeting of the ANU Sport & Recreation Association.
- In order to request that your SRA membership fees be deducted from your salary, please visit the ANU Sport & Rec Centre Reception Desk and complete a Staff Salary Deduction Request form.
