Student Fees

Commonwealth Supported Students

Each semester your student contribution amount will be assessed by the University and reported to you. The student contribution amount is calculated at each course Census Date. The Census Date for courses taken in Semester 1 is 31 March and Semester 2 is 31 August. (Where the Census Date falls on a weekend the Census Date will be the previous working day. E.g If the 31 March is a Saturday the Census date will be Friday 30 March)

If you fail a course or withdraw from a course after Census Date, your student contribution amount remains unchanged. To avoid a student contribution amount liability you should withdraw from your program or your course by the course Census Date.

  • Can a commonwealth supported student undertake a course that is not part of the program requirements?

Commonwealth supported students can only access a Commonwealth Supported Place in a unit of study that contributes to the requirements of the program in which they are enrolled.  Information for Commonwealth Supported Students is available via the publications on this web site http://www.goingtouni.gov.au/Main/Resources/PublicationsAndLinks/FormsPublications.htm

  • Can a student be commonwealth supported to repeat a course they have already passed?

If a commonwealth supported student has already successfully completed a course of study (and received a pass or better grade) the student is not able to re-take the course on a commonwealth supported basis.  Courses which are undertake that are not part of the program requirements would be charged on a non award basis (Fees: http://www.anu.edu.au/sas/fees/tuition_fees_nonaward/index.php)

A booklet titled Information for Commonwealth supported students is published by the Australian Government and can be found on the Going to Uni website. It is also available from Student Administration Services for continuing students.
