Examinations & AssessmentSpecial Examination A Special Examination is the sitting of an examination at a time other than the scheduled time/date. Wherever possible a student should sit their examination at the prescribed time, and if necessary apply for Special Consideration for the marking of the examination. Special Examinations are for students who are unable to attend the examination at the prescribed time. The University may make provisions for coursework students who are unable to attend a formal examination at the prescribed time owing to:
If for any reason you failed to attend a term, semester or annual examination for a course, and you are seeking a Special Examination for that course, you are required to lodge an application with the Delegated Authority of the ANU college responsible for the course no later than 3 working days after the scheduled examination. Requests for a Special Examination should be lodged on the Application for Special Examination(s) form. The granting of a request for special examination is not automatic and is at the discretion of the Academic area responsible. Supporting documentation from any relevant independent person (or authority) including health professionals and/or ANU Disability Advisers must accompany the completed form. If the relevant Delegated Authority then approves a Special Examination, you will be notified in writing. It is the responsibility of the student to confirm with the relevant Delegated Authority whether or not a Special Examination has been granted. See the Examinations Rules for more information.
