Examinations & Assessment5.10 Language Backgrounds Other Than English The University recognises that students from language backgrounds other than English may encounter difficulties in the first year of enrolment. Such students may be eligible for assessment concessions such as additional examination writing time. Most students from language backgrounds other than English will not need assistance under the assessment arrangements policy. For those students who are deemed eligible and require assistance, the support will be for a transitional period to enable the student to acquire the necessary level of language competency. Students from language backgrounds other than English who wish to apply for assessment concessions should contact their college Office early in the Semester 1 of their programs of study to acquire further information about the application procedure and to obtain the appropriate form to complete.
