Late Withdrawal from a Course

If you need to drop a course after the deadline and want to do so without failure, you may be eligible to apply for a Late Withdrawal. Late Withdrawals may be granted to students who encounter unavoidable and unexpected extenuating circumstances that impede their successful completion of a course. A Late Withdrawal is a withdrawal without failure and a WD grade will appear on the Academic Transcript.

Circumstances that may be considered for a Late Withdrawal include:

  • Significant illness;
  • Death of a family member;
  • Professional redeployment;
  • Unavoidable travel.

To apply for a Late Withdrawal, you are required to submit an Application for Late Withdrawal to:

Manager, Enrolments and Student Records
Building X-005
121 Marcus Clarke Street
Canberra ACT 0200
enrolments@anu.edu.au

Supporting documentation (such as medical certificates) must be included that clearly support your claims and include the relevant dates/timeframes.

Recipients of a Late Withdrawal may, but not necessarily, be entitled to a fee refund, remission of HELP debt and/or remission of Student Learning Entitlement (SLE).
