2. Enrolment
2.13 Program Leave of Absence
Approved periods of leave from a program may be granted to a student on application. Program leave is counted as part of the maximum time to complete the program. Such leave is normally restricted to a maximum of one academic year in the first instance. Applications in excess of this time will be approved only in exceptional circumstances. Normally, only students with some academic standing in a program (i.e. students who have achieved at least one final result in a course) will be considered for program leave.
Students enrolled in undergraduate study who have had an effective enrolment in a program but not yet achieved any results, will be considered for program leave on application by the specified date.
All such requests should be made on the Application for Program Leave form. Such leave should be sought prior to the commencement of the academic year or semester in which it is to take effect and must be sought prior to the semester/course Census Date.
A continuing student who enrols, and drops all of his/her courses before the Census Date of any of the courses, shall be considered for program leave.
Approved program leave ensures your place in the program is reserved so that you may recommence your studies in that program at the end of the approved period of leave. At the end of this period you should register your re-enrolment on the ISIS website by the normal deadlines.
International students should note that there are certain restrictions associated with taking program leave and should ensure they are well informed before making the decision to take leave. Applications to take leave retrospectively will not be approved.
Students who have approved leave and wish to reverse this decision must contact Student Administration Services by the first teaching day of semester or a late fee of $125 will apply.
