Undergraduate Scholarships

A Scholarship is awarded on the basis of past achievement with the expectation of future achievement. You must apply for a Scholarship.

ANU National Undergraduate Scholarship These scholarships are available for award to recent school leavers who have achieved outstanding Year 12 results.

2010 Application
No application is required. All eligible applicants to ANU will be automatically considered.

Selection criteria
Awarded to eligible students who have achieved an ATAR score of 99.90 and above (no bonus points).

To be eligible, you must:

  • be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, or holder of an Australian permanent resident visa or permanent humantarian visa, and
  • be studying an Australian Year 12 or New Zealand NCEA or International Baccalaureate in 2009, or
  • completed Year 12 or equivalent in 2008 and did not enrol in a tertiary program in 2009; and
  • have put at least one ANU program as a preference through the Universities Admissions Centre (NSW & ACT).

You do not have to:

  • have ANU as first preference
  • restrict your program choice
  • be interviewed for scholarship selection
  • send your Resume/CV

Art and Music
There will be one NUS available for Art and one for Music.
Selection will be made from those immediate school leavers (including those who have taken one year off) who are offered a place in Art and Music undergraduate programs on the basis of outstanding achievement in the selection procedures which include assessment of portfolio for Art and audition for Music. Students enrolled in combined programs will be considered.

Value
$12,500 per year as a contribution towards accommodation, tuition and other education expenses for the duration of the chosen undergraduate program.

Number available in 2010
All eligible students who obtain the required ATAR score will be made an offer.

Retention
Recipients must maintain a minimum of a Distinction grade average (70 per cent).

Accommodation

Deferral
This scholarship cannot be deferred. Successful applicants to the University who defer their place at ANU for 2010 will be considered for the scholarship in 2011. Please note that the eligible ATAR or equivalent score may change for 2011.

ANU National Merit Scholarship These scholarships are available to recent school leavers who achieved excellent results in their Year 12 qualification.

2010 Application
No application is required. All eligible applicants to ANU will be automatically considered.

Selection criteria
Awarded to eligible students who have achieved an ATAR score of 99.75 - 99.85 (no bonus points).

To be eligible, you must:

  • be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, or holder of an Australian permanent resident visa or permanent humantarian visa, and
  • be studying an Australian Year 12 or New Zealand NCEA or International Baccalaureate in 2009, or
  • completed Year 12 or equivalent in 2008 and did not enrol in a tertiary program in 2009; and
  • have put at least one ANU program as a preference through the Universities Admissions Centre (NSW & ACT).

A L Hales Honours Scholarship

ACTEW Honours Scholarship The ACTEW Corporation is committed to the sustainable use and management of freshwater ecosystems in the Australian Capital Territory. As part of this commitment, the ACTEW Corporation has partnered with the School of Botany and Zoology at the Australian National University to promote the study of aquatic flora and fauna in the Canberra region.

Value
The scholarship is valued at $7,500 and will be paid in two equal instalments during the successful applicant's Honours year in the School of Botany and Zoology.

Applications are due by 1 November and 1 May to coincide with the two different intakes of Honours students each year (February & July).

Four scholarships of $A5,000 each is available for one year to full-time students enrolled in a course of study leading to the award of the Degree of Bachelor with Honours in a field offered by the Fenner School of Environment and Society.

Angus Nicholson Honours Scholarship in Science A scholarship of $5000 for award to a student who can demonstrate academic merit and a passion for his or her chosen field of science.

Anjeli Nathan Memorial Scholarship A scholarship of $5000 for award to an applicant accepted to study behavioural ecology or conservation biology as part of the Honours Program in Botany and Zoology. Anthony & Barbara Brookman Undergraduate Forestry Scholarship

Every year the Fenner School of Environment and Society will award a scholarship to a first year student enrolled in a Bachelor of Science (Forestry) or a combined program which includes Bachelor of Science (Forestry), or a student who had previsouly been enrolled in a different academic program and will be transferring to a Bachelor of Science (Forestry) in the relevant calendar year.

The scholarship is tenable for two consecutive semesters.

ANU ActewAGL Undergraduate Scholarship ActewAGL will make available four undergraduate scholarships per year to students studying Accounting/ Finance, Business, Engineering, Economics, Information Technology, Law and Science. Each year ActewAGL will nominate the discipline areas in which scholarship will be made available in the following year.

Requirements
In 2009 the scholarship is available to students originally from the local Canberra region who are enrolled in their second year of studies.

Eligible disciplines include:
- Engineering
- Information Technology
- Finance
- Economics

Value
$12,500 per annum. The 2009 winner will commence the scholarship in Semester 2 with a payment of $6,250.

Duration
The scholarship is for the duration of the program subject to satisfactory academic achievement.

Retention
Scholars must maintain a Distinction (70 per cent) average each semester.

If you have transferred into the ANU, you will need to provide all transcripts from your previous institution(s). If you commenced your University studies at ANU, you do not need to provide transcripts as your academic record will be available to us.
