Indigenous Australian Graduate Scholarship

 

The ANU each year normally offers one scholarship to an indigenous Australian to undertake graduate study.

Value:
A$23,728 (2012 rate) per annum tax free in fortnightly instalments

Other Benefits:
Travel to Canberra from within Australia; reimbursement of some removal expenses; thesis reimbursement allowance.

Take up between:
1 January and 31 March in the year of award

Tenure is dependent upon the program for which the scholarship is awarded

PhD, Professional Doctorate by Research, MPhil, Professional Doctorate by Coursework (and also Master bo Coursework and Research, Master by Coursework, Graduate Diploma)

Australian Citizens; Permanent Residents of Australia

Application:
Applications are only open to Indigenous Australians. Online applications for admission and scholarship can be made at http://students.anu.edu.au/apply_online.asp (recommended). Applicants must also notify research.scholarships@anu.edu.au once their application for the Indigenous Australian Graduate Scholarship has been submitted.

31 October

Additional Information:
Applicants for a research scholarship must hold a Bachelors degree with at least upper second-class honours, or equivalent prior studies including some research work, and should complete the Postgraduate Research Course and/or Scholarship application form.

Applicants for a coursework scholarship must hold at least a Bachelors degree and should also complete the Postgraduate Research Course and/or Scholarship application form, as well as the Postgraduate Coursework Application Form for Local Students. Some ANU coursework programs require application through the University Admissions Centre. Details of these programs and how to apply for them are provided on the Postgraduate Coursework Application Form.

Before lodging an application, applicants applying for admission to a coursework program should first check the closing date of the program, as the closing date for some coursework programs may be earlier than the scholarship closing date.

Applicants for a research program are strongly encouraged to contact the relevant Graduate Studies Convener or a prospective supervisor, prior to lodging an application, to discuss the proposed research topic and related matters.
