Have you done everything you need to do to graduate?
Make sure with this checklist. |
Your Invitation to Graduate:
|
Testamur (Certificate):
|
In mid October 2009, the Examinations and Graduations Office will send an email package to
your ANU student email account (uxxxxxxx@anu.edu.au) inviting you to participate in December conferrals.
Students with an inactive ANU email address will receive a hard copy invitation via post. If you expect to graduate in December and have not received an invitation by the end of October, please contact the Examinations & Graduations Office immediately.
Types of Invitations:
a) Conditional Invitation - your eligibility to graduate will depend on your results for the current semester. It is your responsibility to check ISIS and confirm your eligibility when results are released. If you think your eligibility is incorrect, please contact the academic area responsible for your award/s within two days of the release of results.
b) Approved Invitation - you have been assessed as eligible for your award.
You MUST respond to your invitation. If you do not respond, your award will NOT be conferred in December and you will NOT receive your testamur (certificate).
You need to select one of the following four options in your response:
1. I wish to attend my graduation ceremony; or
2. I wish to confer my award in absentia (please allow up to 6 weeks to receive the award/s via mail. Please ensure your mailing address and contact phone number is correct in ISIS by 4th December);or
3. I wish to defer my Graduation to July 2010 or December 2010; or
4. I am a postgraduate student and I wish to transfer credit to a higher award.
Please respond to your invitation by no later than 13 November 2009.

~ The Name on your Testamur
Your name will appear on your testamur and in the Conferring Program EXACTLY as it appears on the Invitation. The testamur is a legal document and as such, we can only print names that are your legal titles. We will not print nicknames, shortened or diminutive forms of your name, or initials.
When responding to your invitation, you will be afforded the opportunity to confirm the names (and their order) to appear on your testamur. You can drop a name or reorder your names but you may not add or change a name.
For example, if you wish to have your middle name appear on your testamur,
but it is not on your invitation, you must present:
a). an original legal document; or
b). provide a certified copy
of a legal document showing this name.
Documents that are acceptable as proof of name change: passport, birth certificate, deed poll, naturalisation certificate.
~ Honours and Prizes
Honours levels (example First Class Honours) will not appear on the testamur, but will be listed on your official academic transcript. (Example, if you complete a Bachelor of Arts with 1st Class Honours, your testamur will read “Bachelor of Arts with Honours”).
Majors (example Chinese) and prizes will not be listed in the Conferring Program or on your testamur but will be included on your official academic transcript.
University medals not determined in time for presentation at the current conferring session can be presented at a later ceremony.
~ Transcript
All graduands will receive one (1) free copy of their academic transcript when they confer. To get a copy before the ceremony, or additional copies, you will need to order from the Division of the Registrar and Student Services. See the Transcripts information page for more details on how to order.
~ Australian Higher Education Graduation Statement
All eligible graduands will receive one (1) free copy of their Graduation Statement when they confer. Additional copies will be available to purchase after conferral from the Division of Registrar and Student Services. See the AHEGS information page for more details.
