Dear Colleague

On behalf of the Fellows and Members of University House I offer warm congratulations on your graduation.

As a graduate of the University, you are now automatically entitled to become a member of the House, which has been established as a centre for ANU staff and graduates since the early 1950s. We very much hope that you will join us.

The House is designed to serve as a club for members living in Canberra and, if you or your guests are from out of town, you will be very welcome to stay here at special rates. Our facilities include meeting and common rooms, a library, Boffins restaurant, the Cellar Café and Bar with lunch in the Fellows’ Garden. There is a collegiate gathering for dinner each Wednesday.

I have pleasure in offering you membership for the forthcoming year free of charge (membership is currently $80.00 annually). If you would like to accept this offer, please return the application form to the Membership Office at University House.

On the evening of Wednesday 16 July the House is holding one of its regular Wednesday dinners. At this time I, the Fellows and members of the House would be very pleased if you and your friends and family would join us. Although it is part of our regular weekly program, this particular function is designed as a celebration for the new graduates of the University. Please return the Graduation Dinner form to the Functions Office at University House.

Dinner will be held in the Hall at 6.30pm, with pre-dinner drinks from 6.00pm in the Common Room. The cost, which includes drinks before and afterwards, three courses and wine with the meal, is $25.00 per person (including GST). Tickets should be purchased by Wednesday 9 July from the Functions Office. It is customary but not essential for new graduates to robe (gowns and hoods only) for this dinner.

We look forward to hearing from you and wish you every success in the future.

Professor John Richards
