Fees - Undergraduate Studies

Australian citizens, permanent humanitarian visa holders 2008Australian citizens and holders of permanent humanitarian visas are eligible for a Commonwealth Supported Place at the ANU in which the Commonwealth Government will partially subsidise the cost of your tuition. You are required to pay a contribution towards your fees, which you can do in one of three ways:
When enrolling through ISIS, you will need to complete an electronic Commonwealth Assistance Form ('e-CAF'). To defer payment of all or part of your student contribution, you will also need to supply your Tax File Number (TFN).Please note if you do not supply your TFN, or a Certificate of application for a TFN you will not be able to receive Commonwealth Assistance funding. Invoices will be available to view or download from ISIS each semester/session. If you have chosen to defer part or all of your liability, and you have provided your TFN, your liability will be deferred automatically after the course census date. Students who wish to pay their contribution up front or partially upfront must do so by the due date. Partial payments will not be accepted after the due date. Students who wish to defer paying their contribution and instead take the HECS-HELP loan will have their student contribution amount notified to the Australian Taxation Office. Within 28 days of the census date, a Commonwealth Assistance Notice (CAN) will be made available in ISIS for download. The CAN is under the menu and is called an eCAN. The CAN shows how much your HECS-HELP loan is for. You should keep a copy of your CAN for taxation purposes. Students commencing a new program in 2008Eligible students that commence a new program of study at ANU in 2008 will be charged at the scheduled 2008 rate. The Student Contribution amounts will be indexed each year. Student Contribution amounts for students commencing a new program in 2008 or continuing a program commenced in 2007.
* If you commenced in 2007 you will be charged the $7,260 rate for any accounting, commerce, administration and economics courses. You may see this band indicated on your enrolment as Band 2,3.
Students that commenced a program from 1997 - 1 January 2007Eligible students that commenced a new program of study between 1997 and 1 January 2007 and have not discontinued your enrolment or completed the requirements of your program will be charged a student contribution amount at the scheduled indexed rate. Student Contribution amounts for 2008 students continuing their program that commenced a program between 1997 - 2007.
Students that commenced a new program before 1997 Eligible students who commenced prior to 1 January 1997 and who have not completed their degree will be charged a student contribution amount at the indexed non-differential rate. The indexed non-differential student contribution amount for 2007 is $3,061 per EFTSL.

Australian citizens, permanent humanitarian visa holders 2009Students commencing a new program in 2009Eligible students that commence a new program of study at ANU in 2009 will be charged at the scheduled 2009 rate. In 2010 and beyond, the rate will be indexed. You will be informed of the 2010 rate when it is published in October 2009. Remember that a new program = a new rate. For students transferring to a new program (including changes from a combined to single degree program) in 2009, you will be charged at the applicable 2009 rate. Changes for 2009Students commencing a program in 2009 will be required to pay up to the maximum of the national priorities rate ($4,162 indexed for later years) for any mathematics, statistics and science courses that they undertake. Students who commenced a non-natural and physical sciences program prior to 1 January 2009 and who transfer into a natural and physical science program will also be eligible for the national priority amount. Other students continue to pay up to the Band 2 maximum ($7,412 indexed for later years) for mathematics, statistics and science courses. Contribution amounts per six unit courseThe amount charged at the course level is apportioned on the Equivalent Full-Time Student Load (EFTSL) value of the course. Assuming an EFTSL value of 0.125, the student contribution amounts applicable to each band are: 2009 rates Band 3 - $8,677 x 0.125 = $1084 (1 six unit course) Band 2 - $7,412 x 0.125 = $926 Band 1 - $5,201 x 0.125 = $650 National Priority - $4,162 x 0.125 = $520 Changes from 2008

Example 1 of student that commenced a new program in 2008:
Mary began a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2006. If Mary chose to stay in her Bachelor of Arts degree for 2008 and 2009, her standard full-time enrolment cost (if only enrolled in Band 1 courses) for 2009 would be $4162.
If Mary chose to transfer into a Bachelor of Archaeological Practice for 2009, her standard full-time enrolment cost for 2009 would be at the new 2009 rate of $5,201 (for Band 1).
Example 2 of student that commenced a new program in 2008:
Ryan began a combined Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws degree in 2005. If Ryan chose to stay in his Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws for 2009, he would be charged at a rate of $742 per 6 unit course for his Commerce courses and $867 per 6 unit course for his Law courses.
If Ryan chose to transfer to the single Bachelor of Commerce degree in 2009, he would be charged at the pre-2008 Student rate of $926 per 6 unit course for his Commerce courses. If Ryan chose to study courses from humanities in his Commerce degree, he would be charged at the 2009 rate of $650 per 6 unit course.
Eligible students that commenced a program of study before 1 January 2007 and have not discontinued your enrolment or completed the requirements of your program, will be charged a student contribution amount at the an ANU scheduled indexed rate.

Citizens of New Zealand and permanent residents of Australia (not including humanitarian visa holders) are eligible for a Commonwealth Supported Place at the ANU in which the Commonwealth Government will partially subsidise the cost of your tuition. You are required to pay a contribution towards your fees which you must pay up-front without a discount.
How to calculate your student contribution.
Note that you are eligible for a Commonwealth Supported Place, but not for HECS-HELP. When enrolling through ISIS, you will need to complete an electronic Commonwealth Assistance Form ('e-CAF').
You will need to pay your student contribution by the due date.

International Students are required to pay full tuition fees (International Student Fees - ISF) and are not subsidised by the Australian Government.
