Tuition fees for non-award studies

Important Information

Student Amenities Fee (SA Fee)

On 11 October 2011, the Australian Parliament passed legislation allowing universities and other higher education providers to charge a fee for student services and amenities of a non-academic nature.  The fee may be spent by higher education providers on items such as sporting and recreational activities, employment and career advice, child care, financial advice and food services from 2012.  Please check the following web site for further information:

Invoices

All invoices will be available in ISIS to view or download. An email will be sent to your student email account when your invoice has been published. It is your responsibility to ensure that any external email address linked to your student email account is active at all times. Please check your student account on a regular basis as this is the way the university will correspond with you.

Non-award studies

Non-award studies (which can be of either undergraduate or graduate courses) include

  • courses from an award program taken for professional or personal development;
  • a postgraduate qualifying program;
  • a course additional to program requirements;
  • a course you have already passed.

Australian citizens, New Zealand citizens, and Australian permanent residency visa holders

Australian citizens, New Zealand citizens, and Australian permanent residency visa holders are charged Domestic Tuition Fees (DTF) and are not eligible for government loans (HECS-HELP or FEE-HELP) for non-award studies (students enrolled cross-institutionally may be eligible for HECS-HELP or FEE-HELP).

Student Amenities Fees (SA Fee) for international students

Due to limitations under ESOS (Education Services for Overseas Students Act) all International students will have this fee incorporated into their tuition fees from 2013 onwards.  A contribution by the University on behalf of international students will be made in 2012 towards the funding priorities determined in consultation with your student representatives.
