Information for Research Students

Domestic Students

All domestic research students are eligible for the Research Training Scheme (RTS). This means your fees are covered by a HECS Exemption scholarship so you have no tuition fees to pay.

International Students

You are required to pay International Student Fees (ISF) unless you are granted a scholarship. The duration of a PhD is a maximum of 4 years and a minimum 2 years. If your Scholarship only covers three years tuition, you will be required to pay for the final year of your candidature if your scholarship is not extended. If you are out of the country during your 4 year candidature you are still required to pays fees for that period of time.

Extension of Program Arrangements for Higher Degree Research Students

A student enrolled in a higher degree research program who has successfully obtained an extension of program beyond the normal time limit is to pay fees as follows:
(a) a domestic student is to be granted an exemption scholarship in 2010;
(b) an international student resident in Australia is to pay a subsidized fee of $3,000 (non-laboratory) or $4,000 (laboratory) per semester in 2010;
(c) an international student resident overseas is to have his or her tuition fees waived in 2010.
