Studying hardChanging Your Enrolment

Are you an International student?

If you are an International student, please make sure that you contact the Office of Policy and Regulation at policy.regs@anu.edu.au or 02 6125 1436 to arrange an appointment to discuss the implications to your visa when making the following changes:

  • Reducing your study load
  • Changing Program
  • Withdrawing from your program
  • Requesting Program Leave

Dropping a course

The table below shows you what you need to do to drop (withdraw from) a course, how the result will appear on your transcript and whether you are liable for fees. You should be careful when dropping courses that you are still on track to fulfil the requirements of your program and any majors you may be undertaking.

Withdrawing from a course can also affect your eligibility to receive Austudy/Youth Allowance and International Students should be aware that it is a condition of a student visa that the visa holder be enrolled in a full study load.

Remember, if ISIS doesn't allow you to add the course, you can fill in an Enrolment Variation Form instead.

Dropping a course after the deadline

If you need to drop a course after the deadline to drop the course without failure, you may be eligible to apply for a Late Withdrawal. Late Withdrawals may be granted to students who encounter unavoidable and unexpected extenuating circumstances that impede their successful completion of a course where the circumstances occur or are exacerbated after the deadline to drop the course without failure.

Circumstances that may be considered for a Late Withdrawal include:

  • Significant illness;
  • Death of a family member;
  • Professional redeployment;
  • Unavoidable travel.

To apply for a Late Withdrawal, you are required to submit an Application for Late Withdrawal to:
