Student Card ImageStudent Cards

All students enrolling at ANU are issued with a Student ID Card. The card is used for library loans, examination ID, building access, and as your proof of identity as an ANU student.

Your ANU Student Card is your official form of identification on campus. This card must be carried at all times when you are on campus, and must be provided upon request to ANU staff and security officers.

UPDATING OR REPLACING YOUR CARD :

Your student card must be updated on or before the expiry date (usually 31 March each year). This needs to be done in the Pauline Griffin Building at the SAS Enquiries Counter.

To have your card replaced you must bring in appropriate photo ID before we can re-issue your card (drivers license or passport). If you lose or damage your card you will be charged a $10 replacement fee for each replacement.

If you have a new card printed, then library access will not be available until the next day. Building access will transfer to the new card immediately.

CONDITIONS:

Your student card remains the property of ANU, so you are expected to keep the card in good condition, and return it to ANU if requested.

Students may only have one ID Card at any time, so if your card needs to be replaced at the enquiries counter, you will be required to return the original card to counter staff. This is to avoid fraudulent use of ANU student cards.

PROBLEMS WITH THE CARD :

Depending on the problem, different areas can help:

Building access: ANU Security controls the building access on your ID Card. Any problems should be directed to them, and their phone number is 6125 2249 (and is on the back of your card).

Library access: Problems with library access can sometimes be solved with the relevant library. If not then you should come and see the SAS Enquiries Counter.

Both: If both your building access and library access are not working, then you should come in to the SAS Enquiries Counter in the Pauline Griffin Building. By printing you a replacement card we should be able to fix the problem. The replacement of faulty cards is free.

CITYRAIL TRAVEL CONCESSION STICKERS :

We can provide travel concession stickers for use in NSW on behalf of the Rail Corporation and State Transit Authority of NSW. Any enquiries regarding eligibility for the sticker should be directed to RailCorp - see www.transport.nsw.gov.au/concessions/guidelines-tertiary.html

The sticker is only available to certain students as outlined below.

Who is eligible for a concession sticker?

The sticker is available to students who are:

  • Undertaking a full time study load
  • Undertaking a program for a minimum of 9 weeks
  • Not engaged in employment of any sort
  • Undertaking daytime classes
  • Not a full fee paying international student

Are there any exceptions?

There are a few exceptions as outlined below:

  • International students may be eligible for a sticker depending on their VISA classification. For more information see the SAS Enquiries Counter.
NOTE: The majority of international students are NOT eligible for the sticker.
  • Students in receipt of Austudy, Living Allowances and Bursaries are not considered to be in receipt of an income.
