Glossary of Student 21 terminology

ANU Degree rules

In ANU terminology, the words Programs/Courses/Degrees have specific meanings. For example, we have a program called the Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science. It is one program that has two Degrees: 1) Bachelor of Arts and 2) Bachelor of Science. To finish this Program, a student must complete at least 192 units' worth of Courses.

A Course is a unit of study. For example, ANTH 1002 Introducing Anthropology is a Course. ANTH is the Subject Code, 1002 is the Catalog Number. "ANTH 1002" collectively is the Course Code. "Introducing Anthropology" is the Course Title.

  • For a new program; or changes to a (program/specialisations/majors), please submit an ANU Program Information Form.
