About SASANU Students

What does SAS do?

Student and Academic Services (SAS) is responsible for managing and coordinating general administrative matters at the University. Some of the things that SAS looks after are:

  • admission of new students
  • enrolment and re-enrolment
  • examinations administration
  • fee assessment & collection from students, and distribution to appropriate areas. Also HECS administration
  • coordination of graduation ceremonies
  • new students’ orientation program
  • results and academic transcript processing and publishing
  • scholarship and prize coordination for undergraduate and postgraduate awards
  • timetabling of classes and exams
  • coordination of academic administrative policy and procedures
  • joint development and maintenance of the student information systems
  • liaison with academic and administrative areas across campus
  • liaison with and reporting to DEST and external stakeholders
  • staff training in the use of student administration systems

Organisational structure

SAS has a number of sections, responsible for the separate administrative or service activities of the division. Each area reports to the Registrar, Mr Tim Beckett. SAS is located in the portfolio of the Division of Registrar and Student Services.

Where we are and contact details

The SAS administrative areas are located in the Pauline Griffin Building (Building 11), off Ellery Crescent. [Map]

The Student Service areas (the Counselling Centre, Disability Services Unit, Jabal Indigenous Education Centre, University Health Centre) are separately located. See their websites for where they are on campus.

Opening hours

The Student Service counter in the Pauline Griffin Building is open from 9:00am to 5:00pm on Mondays to Fridays.

The Cashier is open from 9:00am to 4:30pm weekdays.

SAS is open for telephone enquiries from 9:00am to 5:00pm weekdays.

The University is closed on public holidays and over the Christmas/New Year period. (See Important dates for closing dates.) The University remains open during non-teaching and examination periods.
