From the Director of the Research Office

Welcome to the first Research Office newsletter for April, bringing an end to arguably the busiest part of the year for staff involved in research management.  With ARC Discovery and NHMRC Project grants having closed, emphasis has now moved to ARC Linkage and LIEF and other schemes for 2010 funding.

Other major tasks in March included the ARC End of Year Reports and NHMRC financial reports.  I thank everyone involved in preparing these reports which involve an immense amount of work and are of vital importance to the ANU's reputation with our major funding bodies.

A total of 21 applications were received late last year requesting Major Equipment funds of $3,893,377. Of the 21 applications, the Major Equipment Committee funded 15. The total financial commitment from 2009 MEC funds was $2,360,000. Notifications went out last week and acceptance forms have to be returned to the MEC secretariat by 1st of May 2009.
