Welcome to the end of November newsletter from the Research Office.

My thanks to everyone involved in the submission of the ARC Future Fellowships Scheme. As a new Scheme, it involved considerable additional work for all staff at an already busy time of the year. The ANU submitted 80 applications.

The Go8 Research Office Directors met recently and agreed on Go8 standard templates for ARC Discovery Projects and LIEF collaborative agreements.  These templates will be placed on the RO website.  The Group is also currently negotiating a standard Go8 collaborative agreement for Linkage Project grants which don't involve a commercial partner ('Public Good' projects).  These are generally the projects where the industry partner agreements are managed by the College Research Offices rather than the Office of Commercialisation.

The RO Christmas lunch will take place on 12 December and the RO will be closed from about 12 pm.

Lunchtime Seminar Series

Topic: Opportunity Assessment: Where Does the Value Lie?

Date: Tuesday, 2nd December 2008, 12.30pm-1.30pm
Place:
Ross Hohnen Room, Ground Floor Chancelry

Presenter: Victor Pantano, Office of Commercialisation

In a University environment, generating an income stream from Intellectual Property is a background concern to ensuring IP is managed in a responsible way. As such, the Office of Commercialisation evaluates research outputs to ensure only that high quality IP with commercialisation potential is patented or otherwise protected.

This seminar will address the key decision points the Office of Commercialisation makes in deciding whether the best use of ANU IP is through commercialisation.
