Many of you will be aware that there have been a number of staff changes within the Research Office.  You are also likely aware that Charles Tambiah is facilitating an Office of Sponsored Research refocus process and has sought opinion on a broad range of relevant issues across the University.  Though the focus is primarily upon OSR, there may be implication for some change in the remainder of the Research Office

At the same time for many within the RO it’s business as usual, and for some, business busier that usual.  At the time of writing it is two weeks to the HERDC research data publications data submission deadline, there have been more late entries this year, and this has put more pressure on relevant staff.

The ERA team have successfully made a test submission to the Physics, Chemistry, and Earth Sciences pilot  and are now working on a the submission for Humanities and Creative Arts pilot.

The first two “Building a Responsible Research Culture at ANU” workshops for PhD students have been conducted involving some 110 students in the Colleges of Physical Sciences and Medicine Biology and the Environment.  These are mandatory for all first year PhD students and I will shortly be contacting HDR Convenors in each of the other Colleges to arrange workshop venues, dates and times.
