ARC Discovery Projects

The ARC Discovery Projects scheme supports a continuum of activities, from smaller single research projects to clusters of larger projects, in order to meet the varied needs of researchers in different disciplines and at different stages of their careers. Where appropriate, Discovery Projects emphasises the need for collaboration, and the development of capacity-building partnerships to work on a cohesive research programme that will make a major contribution to generating knowledge. The scheme funds both research projects and fellowships.

Submitting Applications for the ARC Discovery Projects Scheme

Researchers submitting ARC Discovery Projects applications should seek advice on preparing applications and submission procedures from their local Business Office or College Research Office. Business Offices or College Research Offices answer general enquiries about ARC requirements, provide strategic advice, and assistance with budgets. If they are unable to answer a query they can seek advice from the Office of Sponsored Research (OSR).

The ARC insists upon a single point of contact with an institution, hence questions requiring clarification with the ARC, must be asked by the OSR.

All applicants need to be aware of their own local area deadlines and peer review processes. Please contact your Business Office for details.

Applications that involve a number of Chief Investigators across departments should submit their applications through the Business Office of the first CI.
