Office of Research Integrity

Promotes the responsible conduct of research through a process of education regarding the ANU's relevant policies and the Australian Code for the Conduct of Research.

Responsible for the operation of three research ethics committees:

    • Animal Experimentation Ethics Committee
    • Human Research Ethics Committee
    • Recombinant DNA Committee (Institutional Biosafety Committee)

 

Office of Commercialisation

Assists the ANU in the translation of its research conducted into marketable technologies  by:

    • effective and appropriate protection and management of the University’s intellectual property;
    • nurturing and supporting a commercialisation culture
    • continuing to drive successful commercial outcomes from suitable opportunities.

The Office undertakes:

    • opportunity identification and assessment;
    • IP protection;
    • due diligence;
    • partner identification;
    • contract negotiation; and
    • services to ANU Connect.

 

Office of Research Management Data

Co-ordinates the collection of data about research outputs including the Publications component of the Higher Education Research Data Collection

Provides research management data analysis and policy advice to ANU management both centrally and in the Colleges

Co-ordinating the ANU’s response to Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA)

Business Solutions Group

    • Management of the ANU's Research Management System, ARIES (Grants and Contracts, Publications, ERA, Animal Ethics, Human Ethics modules), system upgrades and implementation of Recombinant DNA and Commercialisation modules
    • Existing RO database (GENESIS)
    • RO Website
    • SPIN/COS administration and training
    • ARC (GAMS and RMS), Grants.gov, NIH E commons etc

 

Office of Sponsored Research

Working with the Colleges to assist them in developing their research management capabilities and enable them to manage all aspects of the external funding process.

Coordinating ARC and NHMRC grants and provide advice and training to College research management staff on ARC and NHMRC requirements

In partnership with Colleges ensure that the University meets the requirements of funding agencies and the legal obligations.

 

Research Management Policy and Training Development Unit

The Research Management Policy and Training Development unit (RMPTD) of the ANU Research Office strives to create an enriching environment for research management development through:

  • undertaking high-level research and preparing reports and papers underpinning policy recommendations and decisions on research management
  • establishing and maintaining effective liaison and quality customer service with relevant sections of the University and external organizations including Commonwealth & State funding agencies, private non-profit organizations and industry
  • developing academic and research skills training materials (print and web-based) and coordinating group workshops
  • preparing complex briefs, reports, guidelines and policies
  • providing the secretariat for the ANU Major Equipment Committee
