The following checklists give an indication of the materials which
must be provided to the Research Office as supporting documentation
for each research publication claimed in the DIISR collection. These
materials are usually subject to internal and external audit, and as
a result, any claim not accompanied with the correct supporting documentation
will be excluded from the collection.
In order to prove that the book you are claiming qualifies
for the DEST collection, you must provide the following materials:
Photocopy of front/title page
Photocopy of contents list
Photocopy of preface and/or introduction and/or first
chapter
(if no preface or introduction available)
Photocopy of page including bibliographical information
(ISBN or ISSN, author(s), publisher, all dates referring to copyright,
publication, printing and distribution)
Evidence indicating the author's affiliation to the
university
(ie. photocopy of byline or signed affiliation statement where a
byline is not available or is ambiguous)
Book Chapters (Category B1)
In order to prove that the book chapter you are claiming
qualifies for the DEST collection, you must provide the following
materials:
Photocopy of front/title page
Photocopy of contents list
Photocopy of preface and/or introduction
Photocopy of page including bibliographical information
(ISBN or ISSN, author(s), publisher, all dates referring to copyright,
publication, printing and distribution)
Evidence indicating the author's affiliation
to the university
(ie. photocopy of byline, contributors' list or signed affiliation
statement where no byline is available or clear)
Photocopy of the chapter being claimed
If the chapter is a new chapter in a revised
edition, you must provide:
Photocopy of the contents page of previous edition
Journal Articles (Category C1)
In order to prove that the journal article you are
claiming qualifies for the DEST collection, you must provide the
following materials:
Photocopy/offprint of article
Photocopy of journal title/volume and issue number,
year of issue, copyright date, ISSN and contents list
(if this information is not evident on article offprint)
Evidence indicating the author's affiliation to the
university
(ie. photocopy of byline or signed affiliation statement where a
byline is not available or is ambiguous)
If the journal is not already indicated as 'refereed' in RePublic, or listed
inISI
Master Journals List, or indicated in Ulrich's
Periodical Directory, you must provide proof that the article/journal is refereed
or peer reviewed in any of the following formats:
Statement (letter, email) from editor
of journal OR
Statement copied from within the journal OR
Statement from the publisher's/journal's website OR
Photocopy of a review given to the article
Conference Papers (Category E1)
In order to prove that the conference
paper you are claiming qualifies for the DEST collection, you must
provide the following materials:
Photocopy or offprint of conference paper
Photocopy of proceedings titles, contents, copyright date, ISBN/ISSN
(can be pages from CD-ROM, website etc)
Proof of national or international significance (from conference
materials - eg. List of participants)
Evidence indicating the author's affiliation to the university
(ie. photocopy of byline or signed affiliation statement where a
byline is not available or is ambiguous)
You must also prove that the full conference paper
was independently refereed or peer reviewed. This can be provided
in any of the following formats:
Statement (letter, email) from editor of proceedings or organiser
of conference OR
Statement copied from within the proceedings OR
Statement from the conference's website OR
Photocopy of a review by a peer given to the author
Note that papers for which only the abstract or extended
abstract was refereed, cannot be counted in the collection.
