Surrendering Certification of a PC Facility

If PC1 or PC2 certification is no longer required, the ANU must surrender the facility certification.

This process includes advising the Secretary of the University Recombinant DNA Monitoring Committee:

  • What actions have been taken to remove GMOs requiring containment from the facility, either by transportation to another certified facility or by destruction.
  • That all surfaces where procedures have taken place have been decontaminated.
  • That the OGTR signs have been removed either prior to surrender or on the receipt of the surrender letter.

The Regulator is then advised that the transport, storage and disposal of GMOs has been in accordance with the guidelines and the OGTR will then notify the Secretary of the date from which the surrender is effective (the surrender date). The Secretary will in turn notify the facility manager.
