Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

 

General

Q: I can't login

If when you try to log in to ARIES you receive a message indicating you do not have an account, please complete the form: ARIES - Request for User Registration.

If you are a current staff member or student but you do not know your University Id or password, please contact the Division of Information (DOI) or your Local IT staff.

For assistance relating to ARIES user accounts (other than University Id or password recovery) please ring the Research Office Help Desk on ext. 51541 or email RO IT Help.

Q: The ANU person I want to add isn't on the list.

Administrative staff receiving the message “That user profile/account does not exist in ARIES” should also use the form: ARIES - Request for User Registration ensuring that they add their own contact details so that they can be informed when the account has been created.

The form should be complete, including University Id (obtainable from your HR Office or your Local IT staff contact). Any problems should be described in the Comments box. Missing items are likely to delay the creation of the account and may be referred back to the person requesting the account.

Q: I get an error message when trying to upload a document.

Please be aware that documents larger than 11 MB may fail to load. When you receive an error message the document must be renamed before trying to upload the document again. Please see the attached file on How to reduce your file size

 

Grants

Q: I can't see my area

School/Centre may be incorrect on your profile. Please ring the helpdesk on x51541 or email RO IT Help.

Q: I have College Administrator access but I can only see one School/Centre in the drop-down menu.

Only one School/Centre can be applied to a profile at one time, ARIES does not have college level profile settings (apart from CBE). To filter by an entire School/Centre use the GLC field in the search facility or search on the 2-level GLC (ie. S65 for Faculty of Science).

Q: I can't access a record I just entered.

The listed departments may not match your profile. Please ring the helpdesk on ext. 51541 or email RO IT Help.

Q: I can't access documents in the Documents tab. An error message "Permission denied e:\Publishing\Web Pages\Aries\Prod\Content\tempCache\TMP247945792.pdf" is displayed.

ARIES may have lost the link to the document, please email RO IT Help with the ARIES ID and the documents affected to have the link restored.

You may be in the publications section. Hit the cancel button and you will be returned to the main screen. Continue as per instructions.
