The weekly fee for 1st semester 2000 is $190 per week
for students on semester or full-year contracts. This includes
all meals except Monday to Friday lunches (excluded from the
weekly fee and paid for separately or in advance), accommodation
in a single study bedroom, and all of the facilities, services and activities the
College has to offer.
The fee for 2nd semester will take account of the introduction of the GST on 1 July 2000 and will be $190 plus an amount yet to be determined. (As a guide, an increase of $1 per day was suggested as an Australia-wide average increase in a study of the economic impact of the GST on tertiary residences conducted this year by the Association of Heads of Australian University Colleges and Halls Inc. This would represent an increase of 3.68%.)
We have special fee arrangements for Honours and Postgraduate students.
Full year contract option
A fifty-two week contract is available for any resident whose
academic course extends to a full calendar year or more.
The room is retained for the full year and payment made at 48
times the applicable weekly rate. This proposal might
suit, for example, PhD or overseas students who want to make
Burgmann their home for a lengthy period. Residents on this
arrangement can be absent at periods during the year without
having to clear their rooms.
Financial Support
The College tries to ensure that no student is prevented from
attending because of financial need.
Scholarships
For 2000, the College has introduced four new scholarships valued
at $2200 per annum. The criteria for selection places a primary
weighting on academic merit, supplemented by financial need and
prospective contribution to College life.
Three scholarships for first year undergraduates coming to Burgmann College
The Rob Swift Honours Scholarship, available for a resident undertaking honours studies at the ANU in 2000.
Rugby Scholarship
A Burgmann Rugby Scholarship worth up to $4000 per annum is
offered in conjunction with the ANU Sports Union for new players

male or female - must be a new ANU student who shows excellence
in rugby and academic studies, and has the potential to
contribute to College life. The winner plays for
Universities Rugby and gets access to first-class training
facilities and development opportunities. With Australia now the
winner of the World Cup and one third of the team coming from the
Brumbies, Canberra is the place to be for Australian
rugby. Application forms and information from the College.
