Ron Barassi is cheered on as he dedicates the Barassi Wing ... albeit some 30 years after the wing was named for him!

Barassi Wing was originally so-named as a mark of derision, due to others' perception that the inhabitants were 'jocks'. The name was embraced by its denizens with a pride that grew stronger and stronger, in-step with R.B.'s fame and achievements.

Jack Waterford (editor of The Canberra Times) stands in for Homer, who unfortunately could not attend. The Homer wing has traditionally been the home of the more 'intellectual' resident, (or the more boring if you ask a Barassi Resident).
