The Scope of the Terms 'Dataveillance' and 'Information Privacy'

I've been active in dataveillance and privacy since the early 1970s. I conduct research, perform consultancy assignments, and on occasions act as a public interest advocate for both consumers and business.

Information Privacy is the interest that an individual has in controlling, or at least significantly influencing, the handling of data concerning him or herself.

Data Surveillance (Dataveillance) is the systematic use of personal data systems in the investigation or monitoring of the actions or communications of one or more persons.
