A career-long expert of Asia-Pacific politics, foreign policy and security, Dr Gill focuses primarily on China, Chinese relations with its neighbours, and US-China relations. He has lived and worked in China and Taiwan, learned Chinese, and has travelled to 55 countries worldwide. He was previously the CEO of the United States Stuides Centre at the University of Sydney, Director and chief executive of the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute, and headed major Asia-related public policy programs in Washington, D.C. at the Brookings Institution and the Center for Strategic and International Studies.
