
March is an exciting time at ANU. The weather has cooled down, you've settled into University life, and there's a variety of exciting events on campus and around Canberra to immerse yourself in.
Learn something new
There's a whole range of different public lectures and talks on at ANU every night. Come along and hear from an international scientist, politician or famous orator. Learn about the intricate issues concerning Native Title, how our teeth shed light on how we've evolved, or how the urban experience shapes our bodies and brains! Love authentic noodles and amazing light displays? The seventh annual Enlighten festival has rolled into Canberra's parliamentary triangle. See some of Canberra's more iconic buildings in a different light. The Enlighten festival has a range of stunning architectural projections, exciting acts, and offers some delicious, authentic Asian food at the Noodle Markets.
Enlighten is open daily from 5pm till 9PM Sunday - Thursday, and until midnight on Friday and Saturday. It goes from the 3-12 March 2017.
Fancy a bit of music to go with your studies?
The ANU School of Music has a regular events program with a range of concerts and gigs that you and your friends can attend. The School of Music is located on the eastern side the campus. Concerts normally take place in either Llewellyn Hall, Larry Sitsky Recital Room or the Band Room.
Go for a walk and see the Treasures from the Palace of Versailles
The Palace of Versailles is one of the most controversial and historical buildings ever created. It boasts intricate and detailed art-works and features the incredible wealth that was held by the Royal Family in France. It's rare for these treasures to ever leave France, which makes the National Gallery of Australia's (NGA) Versailles: Treasures from the Palace exhibit a once in a life-time experience. The walk to the NGA is only 45 minutes away from campus. Take a break from studying, and head over to the NGA for the stunning exhibition. There's only a month and a half to catch this exhibit before it leaves Canberra forever.

Did you know that ANU has an extensive art collection and a number of galleries on campus? The ANU School of Art Gallery is a public art space which within the School of Art community. There a regular exhibitions in the main gallery and foyer galley which are open to the ACT community. Or why not head down to the Drill Hall Gallery which features among many famous pieces, Sidney Nolan's Riverbend. With regular exhibitions it's a great place to take the family when they come to visit. The Australian Centre for China in the World also has an exhibition space worth taking a look at.
See exciting exhibitions, performance art, eat some street food and dance at Art, Not Apart.
Interested in trying something new, getting festive, and seeing some amazing Canberra Art? Then Art, Not Apart is the festival for you! It's held on the 18 March in New Acton, a short five-minute walk away from the University. From 1-7pm, there'll be live music, art and performances. There will also be some delicious food to grab while you see some amazing works from Canberra artists.
See Lake Burley Griffin light up at SkyFire!
SkyFire is a rite of passage for any new Canberra resident. Fireworks are rare in the Capital, so pop over the bridge to Lake Burley Griffin and watch the exciting fireworks display. It starts right after Art, Not Apart on Saturday 18 March, and is only a short-walk away. Bring some friends, a blanket and wear something warm!
