Recognising the work of our staff is incredibly important and the University takes it very seriously - after all it is the staff who help make this place what it is.

The team responsible for upgrading the University's technology and WiFi infrastructure, was among those recognised at the 2017 Vice-Chancellor's Staff Excellence Awards.

Held annually, the awards recognise the outstanding contributions of individuals and teams of staff who work in a variety of roles that allow the University to continue operating as one of the world's best educational institutions.

Among the groups to be recognised in this year's list are the Data Network Transformation Project Team for their work in upgrading and improving internet and WiFi access across all ANU buildings, and the Scholarly Information Services team for their work in transforming access to digital scholarly portals.

The Research Skills and Training Team (headed up by Associate Professor Inger Mewburn) was also recognised for its in-depth support to Higher Degree Research (HDR) students by equipping them with skills to communicate their research in a simplified manner for the general public, in what has become known as the 3MT.

The list of recipients also includes those who have worked at ANU for 25 years and for 40 years.

There are 27 staff who are celebrating 25 years of service and one staff member who is celebrating 40 years," said Vice-Chancellor Professor Brian Schmidt.

"For each of you receiving these awards, we thank you for your remarkable contribution and commitment to the University over the years."

Vice-Chancellor Professor Brian Schmidt congratulated all recipients of the 2017 awards.

"Recognising the work of our staff is incredibly important and the University takes it very seriously - after all it is the staff who help make this place what it is," he said.

"Between now and next year's Excellence Awards, I encourage you to keep an eye out for staff in all of your areas who display dedication and commitment to their jobs, who step above and beyond their day-to-day roles to bring about positive change."
