Student Ben Treffers named 2014 ANU Sport Star of the Year

Commonwealth games gold medallist and student Benjamin Treffers has taken out the top award for University athletes in the 2015 ANU Blues Awards.

Treffers won gold in the 50 metres Backstroke at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, and also came first in the 50 metres Backstroke at the Australian National Championships, breaking the Australian record by 0.27 of a second.

While at the National Championships, the 23-year-old, who is currently studying a Bachelor of Commerce at ANU with one year remaining, also came second in the 100 metres Backstroke.
